The "Southern Cross" American flight crew are given a warm welcome in San Francisco. The Southern Cross American crew members, Harry Lyon (navigator) and James Warner (radio-operator), were the first to fly across the Pacific Ocean from the United States to Australia, with Australian aviators. Scenes include Harry Lyon and James Warner reading a welcome proclamation from the city, reporters and cameramen on board the SS Malolo, Navy and Army officials give welcome, City officials (Senator Phelan, Mayor Rolph) greeting the crew, Mayor Rolph and Senator Phelan change hats, and Lyon with his mother. A parade marches down Market Street, visiting Civic Center and City Hall.
