Footage of the eve of the inaugural Good Samaritan Day, created by "Watermelon King" Leo G. Altmayer. Prior to his proposed national holiday, Altmayer had been celebrating his birthday by giving watermelons to Pittsburgh area hospitals and institutions for fifteen years. The St. Paul's Orphan Asylum, featured here, was one of many institutions to receive a "watermelon fete," sponsored by Altmayer. Girls sitting and eating watermelon.
